Who's Behind TPF?
Curious who's behind The Pillow Fort? Why... Darling and Ducky of course! And by that, we mean Victoria (Lil) and Derek ❤️
We're a happily married couple who met through our passion for gaming (literally - thank you World of Warcraft). Now, with 3 kids and professional careers, we enjoy our gaming pastime more than ever as a break from our busy lives. Blending our love of creation with gaming has led us to The Pillow Fort, a place where people from all walks of life can come to enjoy good conversations about great games. We leave bias behind and seek to respect others' opinions about the games they play. Sometimes you hate a game we love, and you love a game we hate, and that's okay! TPF is a place of discussion and respect, with divergence and differing opinions at its core. To us, all are wrong, and all are right, play what you enjoy, and leave all the rest behind.
Darling
Hi! My name is Victoria but I prefer to go by Lil ❤️ I have a long history in gaming, boasting 22 years of it now and being a PC player since the beginning - it was all I had access to, no hate!
I love games with passion and heart in them. Those that make you feel something in the dead of winter, or push your skills to new heights with an adrenaline rush to pack a punch! Then... sometimes I just want to sit and play the coziest sim I can find and spend hours growing in-game gardens. But... no horror, please!
Other than gaming, I spend my time sculpting and animating 3D characters and environments. I'm nearly finished with my Bachelor's in it, and look forward to either joining a studio in the future or even making our own game!
My biggest pride though is my 3 beautiful sons who challenge me in new ways every day and are constantly shaping me into a better person. My favorite is to spend time in the garden with them, hiking, gaming, or sports. Anything that gets us all playing as a team and family!
Ducky
Quack! My name is Derek and I am a certified Duck. I've been playing games for most of my life and had the privilege of starting on the N64. I've since expanded to all platforms, but Nintendo will always have a special place in my heart.
Gaming has always been a huge escape for me. The chance to experience new worlds from various perspectives has helped craft my imagination and interests. I wasn't always the biggest book reader, so games were normally my source of fiction and stories. I can get lost exploring fantasy lands or found living peacefully in a town of animals. They also fan my competitive fire through games like Rocket League and League of Legends.
When not gaming, I'm in a spreadsheet. No, seriously. In my day job, I'm a Strategy Manager where I crunch numbers and make charts. I honestly love it... I have a slight obsession with spreadsheets and find every opportunity to merge them with my gaming hobby.
I have to agree with Lil on the most important aspect of our lives. Our children are fantastically hilarious kids who have crazy imaginations and never-ending wells of energy. It can be hard to keep up with them, but we all learn something new from each other every day.
