Happy April Banner

With April in full effect, we're here to bring you another month's worth of game releases and updates, including console ports and new game pass additions. March saw some incredible new titles join the fray of the gaming world, and while we're still enjoying them and bringing you our reviews, we refuse to let you get behind on what's coming, whether we're ready for it or not.

As we promote waiting until games are in their best state to buy, we find no harm in showing you incredible games that can earn their rightful place on your Wishlists, patiently waiting for their turn to make it into your full-fledged library. Whether you're an avid fan of the Casual genre, or you look forward to more intense Platformer and RPG experiences, we have a little something for everyone and have sorted it by those genres you love and hold so dear to make for easy browsing, meaning you can skip around to your heart's content.

Table of Contents:

Adventure & RPG Banner

1. Broken Roads

Release Date -  April 10th

Consoles Available  - PC, Switch, Xbox One/S/X, PS4/5

Genre - Adventure, RPG, Strategy, Survival

Fans of party-based RPGs and survival adventures will want to give Broken Roads a strong look over as it boasts a unique morality system that will have your game developing differently with every choice you make. Accompanied by the standard features you love to see in the genre and its more tactical style of combat, it's set to offer a fresh experience for fans.

2. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Release Date -  April 23rd

Consoles Available  - PC, Switch, Xbox One/S/X, PS4/5

Genre - RPG, JRPG, Adventure

I always appreciate it when a voice-acted, above-average JRPG hits its release date as a few people have explicitly asked that I be on the lookout for them. If you're someone who enjoys the turn-based, more strategic RPG style, then Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes should be getting a good look from you this month. Yes, it stays true to its name and literally offers over 100 playable characters.

3. Ereban: Shadow Legacy

Release Date -  April 10th

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Story-Rich, Stealth, Adventure

As a player who tends to be far more oriented towards choosing stealth, rather than engaging my enemies, I appreciate when titles such as Ereban: Shadow Legacy grace our world. With the soft cartoon graphics we tend to adore, and the promise of mind-bending puzzles that'll require a multitude of different solutions, I'll be excited to see how this one is received.

4. No Rest for the Wicked

Release Date -  April 18th

Consoles Available  - PC, Xbox S/X, PS5

Genre - Adventure, RPG, Action

As a fan of both Moon Studios and Private Division, it's easy to say I'm excited for their new entry, No Rest for the Wicked. Blending their team's knack for phenomenal graphics and audio, with the nitty gritty gameplay of Action RPGs, it's set to tickle the hearts of their fans with a new adventure. I wish I could say it's a darker story than a game such as Ori, but if you played it then you know that not many games tear your heart out the way Ori does, and I'm ready for them to do it to me again.

5. Pathless Woods

Release Date -  April 2nd

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - RPG, Adventure, Survival Craft, Co-Op

I enjoyed my time with Pathless Woods paper mache world. It offered such a unique art style and perspective that only had me more curious to venture into the mists that held... not much more than my death. As I learned, the world evolved, quite literally, and the raw ambiance of the game helped make my time in the afterlife far more bearable. Best yet, you can take your friends with you and I'd highly recommend doing so as it'll make it harder for the wolves to use your bones as a toothpick

6. SAND LAND

Release Date -  April 25th

Consoles Available  - PC, Xbox S/X, PS4/5

Genre - JRPG, Action, Anime

Even though I've always struggled to get into JRPGs and games with any Anime themes, I always feature them as too many of my friends are hardcore fans to disrespect them by omitting the good ones. SAND LAND is a Bandai Namco title and that alone should have a few excited as they're well known for putting out phenomenal JRPGs. We'll see if this one lives up to their brand's expectations.

7. Sons of Valhalla

Release Date -  April 5th

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Simulation, Adventure, Strategy, RPG

Despite Sons of Valhalla sporting more mature themes, we can't help but appreciate the gorgeous pixel art and thorough story-telling. From colony management aspects to battling it out with your enemies, the blend of gameplay mixed with the amount of care they've put into building the world has it set to be an enjoyment for any RPG lover.

8. Underspace

Release Date -  April 12th

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Sci-Fi, Flight, RPG, Online Co-Op

Despite Underspace triggering our motion sickness issues, we can't help but appreciate how fluid and fun the space flight and combat was. If you're looking for a more open-space flight simulation experience that will keep you entertained with monstrous space creatures and full-space travel, then this is one you're going to want to check out.

9. Yet Another Fantasy Title (YAFT)

Release Date -  April 10th

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Adventure, RPG, Action

I've played too many quirky Indie-RPG games and enjoyed them all too much, not to feature Yet Another Fantasy Title. From the trailer alone we get the sense that this one is meant to be riddled with ridiculousness and mayhem. From killing the chosen one to running from the cops through the town streets on your horse, if you're wanting a more comedic experience this month, then this one is worth the consideration.

Metroid & Platformer Banner

1. BIOMORPH

Release Date -  April 5th

Consoles Available  - PC, Switch, Xbox One/S/X, PS4/5

Genre - Metroidvania, Platformer, Adventure

As Derek (SirDucky) gave this one's Demo a shot and truly enjoyed its beast-morphing take on the Metroid genre, it played its own part in making the list. For those who crave that action-packed combat experience, yet features enough unique aspects that make it feel like a genuine new entry, this is one to check out.

2. Moonlight Pulse

Release Date -  April 26th

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Adventure, Metroidvania, Platformer

As the Metroid and Platformer genres develop, teams are forced to find new mechanics and ways to make the games they release more interesting. Moonlight Pulse has done that by implementing a multi-character control system that splashes it into the puzzle genre for a lot of reasons. If you're looking for an experience that's going to keep you on your toes, and your brain cells active, then this is worth your time.

3. Tales of Kenzera: ZAU

Release Date -  April 23rd

Consoles Available  - PC, Switch, Xbox S/X, PS5

Genre - Metroidvania, Platformer, Adventure

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU will be bringing a touch of Shamanic culture to the Metroid and Platformer worlds this month. With its colorful effects and rich story-telling, I'm excited to see if this one is as good as it looks. Ever since experiencing Ori for the first time, I'm always on the lookout for gorgeous Metroids and this one is promising to deliver.

4. The Devil Within: Satgat

Release Date -  April 9th

Consoles Available  - PC Early Access

Genre - Adventure, RPG, Platformer

While this one is a bit too heavy metal to be on our coverage list, fans of the Side-Scroller and Platformer genres will be thrilled with the release of Satgat. Boasting above-average graphics and gameplay, to those who don't mind a bit of gore and metal, you'll be in for a good time. It's starting in Early Access and will likely be coming to consoles after it's polished up to its full 1.0 release, but for now, we'll be watching its development.

Casual and Cozy Banner

1. Echoes of the Plum Grove

Release Date -  April 29th

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Life Sim, Casual, RPG

A Casual game with consequences? It would seem so as Echoes of Plum Grove seeks to add a unique twist to the Life Sim genre, making your choices matter more than most. It's set back in the age of the pilgrims, and that means you can take a less civilized approach in regard to your neighbors should any issues arise between you and them. It's safe to say this one will be adding a bit of uniqueness to the genre this month.

2. Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure

Release Date -  April 24th

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Simulation, Adventure, RPG, Online Co-Op

Automation fans will be excited at the news of Oddsparks' release as we took a look at the Demo and its blend of RPG and automation systems was addicting, to say the least. With a heavy dose of quests to keep you busy, dozens of automations to discover and set up, plus a large open world to explore, it'll keep you busy for a while.

3. Of Life & Land

Release Date -  April 2nd

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Simulation, Management, Casual

As a fan of the Simulation and Management genres, I can't help but always be on the lookout for a title that's going to take the genre and throw new spins on it. Of Life & Land has taken the townsfolk and wildlife and given them a far more important place in the world than most games. It's going to be up to you to keep it all from going up in flames, so before you write off how the cow feels, you might want to give it a second look.

4. Spirit City: Lofi Sessions

Release Date -  April 8th

Consoles Available  - PC

Genre - Casual, Utility, Cozy

Anyone who got the chance to check out Spirit City's Demo had nothing but compliments for this upcoming organizational tool. Taking unique progression goals and implementing them in a playful gamer-oriented way, this one is set to be your best friend if you need a little extra help with staying focused and organizing your tasks. It'll even reward you for consistency in the form of cute critters.

5. Whisker Waters

Release Date -  April 25th

Consoles Available  - PC, Switch, Xbox One/S/X, PS4/5

Genre - RPG, Life Sim, Casual

I know far too many people whose dream experience is to run around as a cat, fishing up different items, fulfilling quests, and living out their peaceful cat life. I have to be honest, some days these types of cozy experiences are exactly what you need, and it's exactly why we've featured it. It'll be blessing multiple platforms, including the Switch, so don't worry it's not isolated to PC players like a lot of our Casual games.

Party and Sports Banner

1. Goons: Legends & Mayhem

Release Date -  April 11th

Consoles Available  - PC, Switch, Xbox One/S/X, PS4/5

Genre - Party, Co-Op, Sports

As Co-Op Party Game lovers, we can't help but feature Goons: Legends & Mayhem, for it's hectic yet playful take on hockey. If your idea of a good time is dueling it out with friends in a comedic sport experience, then this is one to take a look at.

2. TopSpin 2K25

Release Date -  April 23rd

Consoles Available  - PC, Xbox One/S/X, PS4/5

Genre - Sports, Simulation, Management

Derek (SirDucky) is a tennis lover and was quite competitive in the sport in his younger years. Anyone who matches that wave length might find a good time with 2K games newest version. Duel it out and climb the ladders, plus all your favorite management aspects too.

Coming to Game Pass Banner

1. Botany Manor

Release Date -  April 9th

Consoles Available  - PC, Switch, Xbox One/S/X, PS4/5

Genre - Puzzle, Simulation, Casual

We played the Demo of Botany Manor in early 2023 and enjoyed it's peaceful take on the Escape Room genre. Rather than be terrified at what lies behind each new door, you're greeted with plants and a new puzzle to solve in order to grow something new. It was clever and any casual lovers are sure to find some fun with this one.

2. Harold Halibut
