Flutter Away to this Peaceful Nature Photography Game

We've been following Flutter Away for a while now as anything that screams Peaceful, and includes Nature or Animals alongside it, is something we're almost destined to enjoy. It's for this reason that the moment we saw Flutter Away pop up on our Twitter feed, we wish-listed it immediately. We always need a break after a few anger-inducing games of League of Legends and it's why we cling to the comfy-cozy genre like a cat to its tree. So, when we got the email with an offer to play the Demo early, we pounced.

I can happily say that Flutter Away remains on our Wishlist, even after playing the Demo, and we'll be looking forward to the full release. Don't want to read? The Video Review is coming Soon!

The story is, you're a photographer...

That line sums up Flutter Away pretty well. You're on a personal trip and you're here to take pictures of butterflies, frogs, the nature around you... and whatever else your heart desires. While, for obvious reasons, this game is not meant to be focused on the story, I do appreciate that they added context as to why you're there, and even the little lines talking about your dog back home added personality that was thoughtful and cute. Even in our silent puzzle games, we love seeing the tiniest of details being covered, so thanks to the Flutter Away team for doing so.

Incredibly Peaceful Gameplay...

This review may be among one of our shortest due to the Demo being just a tiny taste of your delicious morning tea, but regardless of that, what we did get to experience put a smile on my face. Yes, the game is simple. You'll take pictures of butterflies and nature, find little clues to unlock hidden discoveries, interact with your campsite and the world around you, then call it a day. Having said that though, using the word simple when referring to Flutter Away, is perfect.

The experience was peaceful, charming, pretty, and auditorially wonderful. I would ask that they put in a slider that allows for the music to be turned down directly from the menu - I know, I say this about a lot of games - but the sounds and music themselves were gorgeous. I'm a nature nerd and any game that's going to make me feel like I'm out in the real world experiencing it is one that receives a thumbs-up from me.

One thing I would like to mention is I adore that you can interact with the world and objects in it. You're not just stuck to your camera and journal, you can shake the trees, move away logs to access other areas, and more that I won't spoil for you. It added a layer of depth that only enhanced the experience. Especially as the gaming industry advances with technology and game creation becomes - slightly - easier, gamers expect more from their games and the growing trend is that they want to interact with the world around them. So, just adding something simple such as the ability to shake a tree? Well, it goes a long way to appease that want.

Conclusion...

If you're looking for a game that will bless you with wonderful audio, beautiful visuals, and the peacefulness of Nature & Animals, then Flutter Away should be on your Wishlist. It'll be a great way to escape your busy daily life or relax after a few adrenaline-induced FPS or MOBA matches. Kick off your shoes, brew a pot of your favorite tea, and settle into your comfiest couch because those vibes are what fit this title perfectly.
