You've probably heard the term "Steam Next Fest" or seen it on your social media timeline at least once this week and if you don't know what it is, it's a huge showcase of over 1000 games, with hundreds of demos available on Steam for this week only. It allows us to get an exclusive first look at some of the most anticipated games for 2023 - and beyond - during their development process.
Now, if you're the average gamer, you probably see events like these and do one of two things. First, you might be that person that writes them off, knowing that you only care about games when they release, and further still, if it's a good game, you'll know about it without having to search for it. Second, you might be the person that loves these events and goes to Steam, clicks your favorite genre(s), and browses a few pages. After you feel as though you've found a few cool upcoming games and added them to your list, you go about your day, never to return to the Steam Next Fest page again. Maybe you aren't either of these two types of people, but it's very much the type of people we were prior to becoming Game Journalists & Reviewers. However... we've abandoned those ways and become a new, 3rd type of person.
If you're like us, then you spent 2-3 hours browsing all 1000+ games being hosted at the Steam Next Fest event and clicked on over half of them. You then spent 2-10 minutes on every single Steam page you opened, documenting in a Spreadsheet the different genres and why you found each game interesting or unique. You dug up the game's social media pages and Discord servers and then you organized it all neatly into an Article to share with the world. So, after over 10 hours of work, we present you, our fantastically long list of games that we found to be truly worth checking out at the Steam Next Fest event, 2023.
Please know that every single game we've added to this list we found genuine value in and knew that they would be enjoyed for various reasons, across many different types of people. It's for this exact reason that we've neatly organized this Article by Genre to save you as much time as possible. Find your genre, and enjoy the little list prepared for it! Also... if you're interested in the video reviews for the games we do plan on reviewing, please click here and go hit that beautiful Red Subscribe button on the YouTube channel.
While we wish we could've compiled all the games into 1 article for you to browse through, our provider alerted us to the fact that all the games in 1 article was simply too massive to post, so we've broken it down into smaller articles, sorted by Genre. To check out the best upcoming games for the Genres you love, click the titles below.
Please note: If you're interested in a game, please add it to your Wishlist on Steam. This helps Game Developers more than you realize as it tells the Steam Algorithm that people are eager to play it, and it'll then show that game to more people. High wishlist numbers also leads to better funding and publishing opportunities for the game and that in term helps the games you enjoy grow and get better. Our job as consumers is to help Developers have the tools they need to put out a well-polished product.
Last Note: Many of the games fit into multiple categories, we placed them in which ones we thought they shined in most.
We did it!
